Vintage Life

In John 4 we are told that Jesus was leaving Judea on His way to Galilee but on his journey he decided to cut through Samaria where he had a conversation with a woman at a local well. This woman would have been similar to the girl that you know in your town who wasn’t loved by her dad so she tried to find self-worth, security and love by any man that would give her attention. Jesus started a conversation with her and began to ask questions. This woman finally figured out that Jesus was no ordinary guy and so she “cut to the chase” and asked him where she should worship God? She said that her family said one thing and your people say another. Jesus responds by saying (paraphrase) it’s not about where you worship or what’s your background, it’s that you worship in spirit and truth.

Let me explain in this context: as Christians in the 21st century we tend to think that church is something that we attend verses something that we are. Many of us grew up getting dragged out of bed on Sunday morning told to get ready for church and if you where a “good Christian” you did it on Sunday and Wednesday evening as well! You see The Church is something that Jesus died for not a religious institution that meets in a building once a week.

Vintage Life is meant to be expressions of who we are as “worshipers of Jesus”. Those expressions take place at Sunday service, Neighborhood groups and in society and culture through out the week. Jesus said he came to earth to die for sinners and to bring them into a relationship with Himself. That’s why are lives are one that putts the center of attention on Jesus. Here you will find a few descriptions of what that looks like here at Vintage!
