While the history of Vintage is just being formed, the idea has been in the making for several years. Although we’re not certain where the idea was originally birthed, it most likely came to life in the minds of a few friends over a cup of coffee. In the past year, what was just conversation has been given proper expression and life. From a Bible study in a garage to an early morning prayer meeting to community outreach, Vintage is beginning to take form. The name Vintage means we live by 1st century truths in a 21st century world. For instance, the word of God dictates our lives as we do life together and we continue to remember and live by the gospel of Jesus as we give ourselves over to Him through prayer and a constant desire for him to be the one thing we worship. (Acts 2:42-47)
Vintage Indy lives to bring glory to God through changed lives, by the work of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Village Church has said it well: “Every church has a unique identity, a DNA if you will, which is formed by the interaction of theology, philosophy and practice.” You could say our DNA is being formed as we speak and with that our vision is getting momentum and a unique expression. Our vision is being birthed from these 4 areas: Christology: who is Jesus, Ecclesiology: what is church, Missiology: How we accomplish the great commission and Ministry: Where the rubber meets the road. Where Jesus’ local church steps into mission by stepping out of their front door into the lives of their neighbor and city with real tangible acts of love, justice and grace.
